Banisia spp. Walker, 1632 -

Taxonomic Information

Banisia Walker, 1632 species known from India and Sri Lanka are:
Banisia lobata ssp. ceylonensis Whalley, 1976.
Banisia lobata Moore, 1882
Banisia myrsusalis (Walker, 1859)
Banisia fenestrifera Walker, [1864]
Banisia myrtaea (Drury, 1773)

The species are doubtfully separated by the formation and number of white spots on the forewing, as this spotting is variable, and in some individuals, might not be present at all. Hence, the only reliable means to separate them is through genitalia dissection and/or comparing molecular phylogeny.
