JD : There are many similar looking spp. in this group.
This could also have been Spilosma coorgensis Kirti & Gill, 2010, considering the location observed.
Kirti & Singh in Arctiid Moths of India state that coorgensis looks the same as obliqua.
J.S. Kirti & N.S. Gill in Studies on external genitalia .... , in the keys on pg 959 differentiate coorgensis from obliqua via -
coorgensis = Abdomen with dorsal and lateral series of black spots
obliqua = Abdomen with dorsal, lateral and sublateral series of black spots
As this individual has the additional sublateral series of spots on the abdomen as seen in the 2nd image, I would agree with obliqua.
SS: Yes, I would agree with Spilarctia obliqua (Walker, 1855) as provisional ID, but this is such a complex genus. I am uploading some specimens from Kerala that partially match Spilarctia obliqua (Walker, 1855). Too much variation.
