Similar species: Rivula basalis Hampson, 1891
Presence of a dark shading around the bipunctate discal mark, this tending to be more intense in Rivula basalis, than Rivula simulatrix, though the HW cleft near tornus of Rivula basalis male is probably the better feature for separation.
