Has the HW marginal area dark with yellow veins on upperside, & on underside except for dorsal area
Similar species & subspecies –
ssp. bicolor, Wu & Fang, 2009 (extralimital) SE Asia - broader transverse black bands & also dorsal spots on the abdomen
ssp. aurogrisea, Moore, 1883, S India & Sri Lanka – very short transverse black bands on the abdomen
Scopelodes kwangtungensis Hering, 1931 Himalayas, NE India - clear white tufts of the third segment of labial palps (apex black in venosa)
Scopelodes dinawa, Bethune-Baker, 1904 (extralimital) New Guinea - transverse black bands on the abdomen not well defined
Scopelodes vulpina Moore, 1879 Himalayas, NE India – sexually dimorphic, males have FW brown or grey-brown with dark (upper) and pale (lower) longitudinal striae
