Homona spp.
Gender (optional)
Notes (optional)
This species is generally ID'd as Homona coffearia (Nietner, 1861). I understand that this type of Homona has been described as several taxa, hence it has been placed to genus in the MoI site. Meyrick, in 1935, made a note synonymising all these descriptions as coffearia, noting that they were all geographical forms of a single species with minor variations in HW colouration etc.

So far, except for a publication by Whittle et al. (1987) , describing Homona spargotis (Meyrick, 1910) as an Australian species and removing it from synonymy with coffearia, all the other forms still seem to be bundled as coffearia – especially those in and near Ceylon, which is the type locality of Nietner's coffearia and is considered to be of economic importance.
Would it be okay to place this type of Homona as Homona nr. coffearia, or should it continue to be placed as Homona spp.?
