Cerynea contentaria at Roger Kendrick PhD Plate 41/17. FWL: 15-17 mm
Cerynea contentaria MON Part 5, Pl. 136/11.
Separating Cerynea contentaria and Cerynea punctilinealis based on original description and plates in Holloway (2009).
Cerynea punctilinealis has two zig-zag fawn coloured lines bands on both wings (first line is incomplete; second line is continuous to the reniform) with two exterior irregular and incomplete fawn-coloured bands. The reniform is composed of two black whitish bordered points. The first fawn-coloured band has a zig-zag line of white points. Second fawn-coloured band is marginal with blackish pooints.
Cerynea contentaria is similar but lacks the fawn bands on punctilinealis in both sexes, has a prominent series of black marginal species and the discal mark consists of three black specks. Based on Holloway (2009) plates, the female has a blackish marking near the apex on the outer margin and on the inner margin near the tornus (the OD does not mention this, though.).
MOB, Part 13, Pl. 4/12 & 13 for male and female.
