T. karena appears to have the basal edge of the FW dark medial patch irregularly curved, also has a paler submarginal area on the FW.

Similar species with a broad dark medial patch on FW (refer pg 12 of reference no 4 for this list, respective MOB pages for differences, & reference no 5 for known species list from India) :-
T. quadratella – square patch, an almost uniform grey marginal area beyond the paler edging to the black, extra-limital ;
T. curviplaga – the patch is a relatively narrow curved bar, extra-limital ;
T. uniplaga – patch is smaller, edged slightly paler with diagnostic dark spot on costa opposite the distal end of the patch ;
T. submontana - extra-limital ;
T. plagiata – has black irregular submarginal markings distal to the black patch ;
T. reflexa – the black patch is more elongate, extra-limital ;
T. maculata - extra-limital ;
T. tricornuta – extra-limital ;
T. flexusa - extra-limital
