The Sinobirma genus has been separated away from Opodipthera by DNA and morphology. There are three species from Arunachal, Upper Burma and China. The genus is the only representative of the Urotini tribe of Saturniidae, the other genera are found in Africa.
This species has been recorded just across the border of North Nagaland/Arunachal. Please follow this link to an article on Sinobirma.Morphology and Molecules Reveal Unexpected Cryptic Diversity in the Enigmatic Genus Sinobirma Bryk, 1944 (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae)
