Loxioda similis ?
SS:
Loxioda Warren, 1913 species known from India.
Loxioda dissimilis (Moore, 1882). India: Meghalaya (TL: Cherrapunji).
Loxioda fasciosa (Moore, 1882). India: West Bengal (TL: Darjeeling).
Loxioda oxyperas Hampson, 1926. India: “Bengal” (TL).
Loxioda similis (Moore, 1882). India: West Bengal (TL: Darjeeling), Tamil Nadu (Nilgiris).
Needs further investigation.
JD : agree with Loxioda similis (Moore, 1882) - OD : Phurys similis - https://archive.org/details/descriptionsofne00hewi/page/174/mode/1up
Also check Moths of Nepal, pt 5 Pl 136/26.
I believe this is the only Loxioda spp. found in S. India.
This should be the female, Hamspon mentions that it has an ochreous line inside the post-medial oblique line
L. fasciosa is similar, but is much larger, has a pale lunular mark in the discocellulars. whereas similis does not, but has a black dot in the middle of the cell.
Both spp. here - https://archive.org/details/descriptionsofne00hewi/page/174/mode/1up
& figures - https://archive.org/details/descriptionsofne00hewi/page/n334/mode/1up
& also in Hampson, MOI Vol 2 pgs 521-522, listed under Acantholipes
L. dissimilis has all lines indistinct, except for the post-medial line reaching the apex being prominent, & with a diffused shade distal to it.
L. oxyperas also has all lines indistinct, and the post-medial line is dark from the apex to vein 4 after which it is obsolescent - https://archive.org/details/descriptionsofne1926brit/page/304/mode/1up
Posting an observation from Devalsari which I believe is dissimilis, Hampson mentions the range as NW Himalayas.
SS: I have reviewed numerous individuals that I have and believe to be Loxioda, but I have always come up short, as descriptions are quite scanty and difference minor. I can prov. agree with L. similis as it is the only species in S. India. Seema Merchant has also uploaded some Loxioda.
