Pingasa spp.
Notes (optional)
Pingasa chlora (Stoll, [1782]). See notes in Observation_240502.
See also Sondhi et al 2018. Moths of Shendurney, Image 192.
JD : did you dissect it and do you have the image of the live specimen? Looks close to chlora, MOB does mention that this is paler and smaller than lariaria, but how else do we differentiate the two?
GI: How do you differentiate it fro m P dispensata? Unless, as JD has asked, you have dissected it? This looks very like P dispensata Male, that we have reported in our KMTR paper - Iyer, G., D. Stüning & S. Sondhi. 2021. An inventory of geometrid moths (Lepidoptera: Geometroidea: Geometridae) of Kalakad-Mundanthurai Tiger Reserve, India. Journal of Threatened Taxa 13(13): 19887–19920. 7105.13.13.19887-19920. Plate 6, image 97
SS: Uploaded live individual image as well. But we did not dissect it. Separation from dispensata: UNF is luteous (yellowish) at base for dispensata; chlora is not yellowish. So a big question is whether current images of dispensata are correct; but in this individual, we have specimens.
JD : we may agree with provisional id -. this does not have yellow near the base on underside.
GI: Agree with a provisional id. here but obs 240502 should go as Pingasa spp. only. See my comments
