Utetheisa spp.
Notes (optional)
SS: Utetheisa spp.
There are at least three similar-looking Utetheisa species known from India: Utetheisa lotrix, U. pulchella and U. pulchelloides. Utetheisa species show significant variability and are difficult to identify from images only. In many species of Utetheisa, it is necessary to see the fore and hindwings of the species for a confirmed identification, which is difficult due to the normal sitting posture of this genus. In some cases, genitalia and/or barcoding are needed to separate species with certainty.
