Chusaris punctilinealis Walker, 1865 [1866]. List of the specimens of lepidopterous insects in the collection of the British Museum. Part 33-34. Pg. 1175. Text at https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/item/120100#page/481/mode/1up. Ceylon.
MOB Vol. 13, Pl. 4/11 for Cerynea punctilinealis.
https://www.inaturalist.org/taxa/428667-Cerynea-punctilinealis
A very similar species is Cerynea contentaria (Walker, 1861), which I have struggled to separate reliably from Cerynea punctilinealis.
Ephyra contentaria Walker, 1861. List of the specimens of lepidopterous insects in the collection of the British Museum. Part XXII. Geometrites. Vol. 22. Pg. 639.
https://www.biodiversitylibrary.org/page/39713449#page/155/mode/1up. Borneo.
Cerynea contentaria at Roger Kendrick PhD Plate 41/17.
Cerynea contentaria MON Part 5, Pl. 136/11. This may be an error in ID and may be Cerynea punctilinealis. MOB lists both species as valid with distributions as under:
Cerynea contentaria Walker (Part 13, p. 89). Endemic. (Lowland). Borneo, Sri Lanka
Cerynea punctilinealis Walker (Part 13, p. 90). Indo-Australian tropics to Solomons. Lowland forest and disturbed habitats.
There are many Cerynea species on MOI which maybe Cerynea punctilinealis or Cerynea contentaria. One difference that I can make out is that the latter has much more prominent black marginal spotting on the forewing. It is likely that Cerynea contentaria is more of a S. Indian species, while Cerynea punctilinealis is found throughout India.
