Cypa pallens has FW apex more strongly produced (MOT, vol 2, pg 52) than Cypa decolor. Proposed as a subspecies of Cypa decolor. Raised to species status by Jordan, 1931, Novit. zool. 36: 238. Synonymized with Cypa uniformis as a subspecies by Kitching & Cadiou, 2000, Hawkmoths of the world: 42. Reinstated as a species by Brechlin & Kitching, 2014, Entomo-Satsphingia 7 (2): 6.
