Taxonomic Information

Similar species:

Abraxas sylvata (Scopoli, 1763)

Abraxas leucostola has olive-fuscous patches darker than sylvata, with more prominent silvery markings for forewing. Grey markings obsolescent (but variable) and only showing through from underside; a ring spot at cell-end and two costal spots are dark fuscous. Abraxas leucostola has short fuscous streaks on veins of forewing, on the inner edge of the grey post-medial band, which sylvata lacks.
